Repairing What is Broken (video)







Below is an inferior embedded YouTube version, no stereo sound:




It seems that YouTube handles the audio in uploaded videos as mono signals. Folks claim there are ways to get around this but I have not been successful with their instructions. I find that you can improve the quality on the YouTube site but this method does not transfer to embedded video use.

This video suffers a bit because of this. In the original, as you can hear with the above Flash player, the voice over parts are separated in the stereo field. This separation keeps them from masking each other. Here, the separation is not preserved and the listening is more challenging. This is a great example of how some applications of Pop technology can put limits on creative output.
